This is the feedback received from Parachat concerning loading of Java when entering a chat room.
Basically, they are saying it only takes longer when you first load it. They also state that if you close your browser, Java will need to be reloaded again.
======================================
Thank you for contacting ParaChat Support. Java is a program that is installed on your computer. When you load your web browser application, and browse to a web page that has a Java applet, the Java program on your computer will start up automatically. Depending on the overall speed of your computer, Java start up can take a few seconds to as much as a minute. Once Java is fully started, the applet will load in your web browser window. If you encounter other Java applets during the same browser session, you would not need to wait for Java to start again since it is already running. As such, the first applet that you encounter in your browser session will not load until after Java starts up, which makes it appear that the first applet takes longer to start than subsequent applets that you encounter.
When you close all of your browser windows, the Java program on your computer will also stop.
When the ParaChat applet loads in your web page, the download size is only about 150 KB which is quite small (by comparison, most standard image files taken with a 5 megapixel camera are between 500 KB and 1 MB). When Java is running on your computer, the ParaChat applet will load in just a few seconds (times vary based on your computer's actual Internet connection download speed).
